My Brave Is Now

Hello and welcome to my blog page. I invite you all to tell me your brave stories or the stories of the people in your lives. The Art of Being Brave is about sharing our brave stories with one another with the hope that they will inspire, encourage and amplify the immediate need to be brave! These times more than ever require bravery which can be the simple act of getting out of bed or ending a toxic relationship. I have been working as a psychotherapist for over half of my life and am constantly met with brave and courageous people who come to me because they are looking to make a change in their life but think they lack the courage to do it: just the act of seeking out a therapist and telling their story is one of the bravest things anyone can do. When I started this Brave Is Now journey, my intention was to make a guide of sorts for my girls, age 12 and 9 at the time, to be used as a reference and a lesson for the issues I knew they would be confronted with as they grew up in case I didn’t survive my cancer. It was the bravest thing I have ever done, and I literally woke up one day, put my feet on the ground and said to myself, “Brave Is Now!” That was six years ago, and I would be lying if I said I didn’t cower and retreat with fear at times but saying those three words kept me going and were my guide as I navigated the past six years. I got a divorce, moved into a home with my two girls, adopted a third dog and started a new business all while suffering from the side effects of my leukemia and various chemotherapy protocols and trials. I was able to transform my life by being brave in the moment. Please tell me your story…
